The search for a possible submerged vehicle ended Saturday afternoon after rescuers determined there was never a vehicle in the water.
On Saturday afternoon, 911 operators received a call from someone who described seeing a red colored kayak or vehicle submerged in the Tulpehocken Creek near the Berks County Heritage Center.
Police, Fire Crews, and Park Rangers quickly descended on the scene, calling in a water rescue team to search the creek.
Eventually, the red object was found just below the surface of the water, roughly 75 yards down stream from the Red Bridge.
A water rescue team waded into the creek, only to find that the object in question was just a large rock, painted red. With a sign of relief, the rescue was called off.
