State Senators Art Haywood and Judy Schwank hosted a joint press conference Wednesday afternoon at the Zion Baptist Church in downtown Reading to discuss a new report, commissioned by Sen. Haywood, that details the changing position of Black Pennsylvanians from 2010 to 2021.
Following the press conference, a community roundtable was held to explore the report’s findings and discuss how to further advance Black communities in Pennsylvania.
The roundtable included Representative Johanna Cepeda-Freytiz, Reading Councilman Wesley Butler, Bernice Hines-Corbitt, Berks County Democratic Committee Member, Sandra Thompson, President, NAACP PA State Conference, Desha Dickson, VP of DEI & Community Wellness, Tower Health, Seleda Simmons, ED and Founder, Real Deal, Radarra McLendon, Founder of Village of Reading and Pastor Alick.
