Six new advocates sworn in to champion Berks County children through CASA program

CASA of Berks County welcomed six new Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) at a swearing-in ceremony held on December 3, 2024. The event, a milestone in CASA Berks’ mission to advocate for vulnerable children, was presided over by Judge Tina Boyd, who administered the oath of service.

The newly sworn-in advocates join a dedicated network of volunteers committed to ensuring the best interests of children navigating the foster care and dependency systems are represented in court. These volunteers underwent rigorous training, equipping them with the skills needed to provide a consistent, compassionate, and informed voice for children in need.

“We are incredibly proud of these six individuals for stepping up to serve our community’s most vulnerable children,” said Nancy McCullar, Executive Director of CASA Berks. “Their commitment to advocacy will make a lasting impact on the lives of children who deserve stability, support, and hope for a brighter future.”

CASA volunteers play a crucial role in helping judges make informed decisions about the placement and care of children. Each advocate is assigned to one case at a time, allowing them to focus on the unique needs and circumstances of the child they represent.

The new advocates include: Katelyn Bennett, Cindy Carlile, Amy Lipton, Melissa Mark, Leslie Turley and Lynda Whiteman.
