The Manatawny Drive Bridge over Manatawny Creek in Douglass Township will be closed for bridge repairs beginning Monday, February 28, 2022. The closure is expected to last six month.
Manatawny Drive will be closed between Pine Forge Road and Grosstown Road while crews make repairs to the bridge over Manatawny Creek.
During the closure passenger vehicles will be detoured on Colebrookdale and Pine Forge roads, Trucks will be detoured on Manatawny Street, West High Street, Business Route 422/Ben Franklin Highway, US 422, PA 662, Pine Forge Road, Douglass Drive, and Pine Forge Road.
Work includes steel beam repairs, concrete deck repairs, and a latex concrete bridge deck overlay.
The Manatawny Drive Bridge over Manatawny Creek is a 173 feet long, steel I-beam structure that was built in 1963.
This section of Manatawny Drive has an average daily traffic volume of 2,919 vehicles. The work is part of a contract to repair eight bridges in Berks County.
Work will begin on February 28, 2022 with an estimated completion date of August 29, 2022.
