Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County has announced that Leslie Fessler has joined the BCSS team as the Ambassador Coordinator. The Board of Directors, team members, and volunteers congratulate and welcome Leslie to the BCSS family.

Leslie was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in August of 2014. She had an aggressive treatment plan that started with surgery followed by chemo, additional surgeries and radiation. It has been 8½ years since her diagnosis and she is thriving!!

She attended many programs here at BCSS throughout her journey and has volunteered for many years. Leslie has shared her story with many newly diagnosed patients to give them hope. Her true passion is to help others on their journey. She recently made the difficult decision to resign from the BCSS Board of Directors so that she could join the staff and fill a brand new role for the organization.

In Leslie’s new role she will oversee, coordinate and train all BCSS Ambassador Volunteers. A BCSS Ambassador is a breast cancer survivor volunteering their time to accompany individuals with breast cancer to scheduled medical appointments.

The Ambassadors will be an advocate and provide companionship during appointments. While the Ambassadors do not provide medical advice they can help individuals think of questions to ask their medical team and share their personal experiences.

The Ambassadors will meet individuals at the location of their appointment as they are not able to provide transportation. BCSS anticipates launching the program this summer after the first class of Ambassadors have been recruited and trained.

Leslie resides in Womelsdorf with her husband Mark on their farm. They own and operate Fessler Farms and FFF Trucking LLC in addition to operating an Airbnb. She has two sons Matthew and Dustin who are married to Jessica and Amber. She also has one daughter, Lindsay, who is engaged to Kashif and will be married this September. Leslie is the proud grandmother of three precious grandchildren Kehlani 6, Allie 4, and Cooper 9 and a half months old. Leslie is looking forward to the arrival of her 4th grandchild in July.

The Board of Directors and staff of BCSS congratulate Leslie in her new role at BCSS and look forward to working with her.
