The best is yet to come: The Reading Fightin Phils begin their 2023 season

For Berks County natives, few things are more exciting than supporting local teams, and few teams are more beloved than the Reading Fightin Phils, who opened their 2023 season on April 11th with a game against the Hartford Yard Goats. While they unfortunately did not win the game, the large crowd that packed the stadium in support had an incredible time regardless, thanks to the tremendous entertainment provided.

Anthony Pignetti, the Executive Director of Business Development for Fightins’, is excited to see where the 2023 season will lead. “This is my 14th season with the R-Phils and I love working for the team…it’s like a big family here!” he said.

“Opening Night is always magical; to see the fans for the first time in 6 months and to see everyone lined up outside around the stadium to get in…it’s just amazing!”

He also shared that the Fightins’ had hosted an Opening Night cocktail party for clients and season ticket holders, as well as an Opening Night concert by the Uptown Band (whose founder, Erich Cawalla, performed a masterful rendition of the National Anthem on his saxophone prior to the start of the season’s first game).

Mr. Pignetti shared that he believes that The R-Phils and FirstEnergy Stadium is the best local venue for affordable, family entertainment in our area. “We pride ourselves on customer service and affordability, and that will always be on the top of our minds here,” he said.

“We know families work hard for their money and we don’t take that lightly. In addition, [I] work with businesses and show them why working with the R-Phils is so impactful for their companies.”

This reporter was able to attend the game as a guest of award-winning home design business Empire Home Center, one of the team’s sponsors, and can attest to the fact that being a sponsor of the team provides an amazing experience for clients and their guests.

Redner’s Event Center to be completed for the 2024 baseball season.

The Fightins’ 2023 season has exciting events on the horizon, which include the unveiling of the Redner’s Event Center (which will open in 2024), celebrity guest appearances, a Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Strike Out the Stigma Night…and the fireworks for which the Fightins’ are so well known.

“2023 is set to be one of our most exciting years to date!” Mr. Pignetti said. “I want to thank all of our fans for making this place so special…without them, none of this would be possible, and we truly are grateful for our community! Bring out our business and family this season….you won’t be disappointed.”
