PennDOT maintenance forces and private contractors have scheduled several construction projects in Berks County this week. To help our readers avoid travel delays, here are a few of the most notable projects.
City of Reading on the 200 and 300 blocks of Penn Street for construction. During this time, the City intends to keep one side of the street open (at a time) to allow travel in one direction. Detours will be posted directing traffic to Franklin Street, Cherry Street, and Washington Street. The detour pattern will change as the work shifts from the 200 to the 300 block.
City of Reading on River Road / West Spring Street will be closed for construction through December 31, 2021. The closure will facilitate the first phase of construction for the SR183 (Sec. RRE) River Road Extension Project for the City of Reading. The work area/road closure will extend from Eberhart Street on the West end to Weiser Street on the East end. A vehicle detour is in place, directing traffic down Windsor Street in both directions.
