The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has posted an updated list of recent Retail Food Inspection Reports for restaurants and food handlers in Berks County. Inspections are a “snapshot” of the day and time of the inspection. Violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the facility. On 8/20/2026, Village Tavern, located at 63 N. Center Ave., Leesport, PA 19533, was inspected and found with the following violation: The deflector in the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have residue and was not clean to sight and touch. PIC stated this will be cleaned today. Customer self-service single-use tableware is not displayed in a manner so that only the handles are touched by customers. Corrected.
On 8/20/2026, Sebastiano’s Italian Restaurant, located at 3227 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606, was inspected and found with the following violation: Thermometers for ensuring proper temperature of equipment are not available or readily accessible in two of the refrigeration units. Corrected. Observed an accumulation of dust/dirt on some areas of the ceiling in the kitchen.
On 8/20/2026, Nia’s Pizzeria, located at 41 King’s Plaza, Oley, PA 19547, was inspected and found with the following violation: Loose rubber door gaskets observed on the upright freezer near the fryers and the left-hand door of the pizza bain marie.
On 8/20/2026, Copperz Brewing Co., located at 798 S. 4th St., Hamburg, PA 19526, was inspected and found with the following violation: Electrical wires above prep/cookline area were observed with excessive dust build up. Please increase the frequency of cleaning to avoid build up.
On 8/20/2026, Arby’s #1130, located at 2249 Lancaster Pike, Reading, PA 19607, was inspected and found with the following violation: Facility was listed as out of compliance. The floor / wall junctures throughout the kitchen area are not coved and closed to 1/32 inch. Observed several areas where the floor/wall junctures have holes or partially filled with spray foam. Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Observed excess dirt and filth on the grease trap and surrounding surfaces. Ceiling tiles missing in the back storage area and need replaced. Walls in the back storage and around the grease trap area, have holes, or is broken and in need of repair. Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodent activity throughout the building. Firm has a pest control service. Observed rodent droppings throughout the facility.
On 8/20/2026, Amity Fire Company, located at 47 Pine Forge Rd., Douglassville, PA 19518, was inspected and found with the following violation: Handwash sink in the bar area observed not draining and drain backing up.
On 8/21/2026, Wendy’s #19306, located at 2717 Meridian Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610, was inspected and found with the following violation: The condenser unit for the under-counter refrigeration unit at the sandwich prep area is not operating/draining properly as evidenced by a full container of water being used to collect the dripping water.
On 8/21/2026, The Post, located at 2747 Bernville Rd., Leesport, PA 19533, was inspected and found with the following violation: Ice scoop is being stored directly on top of the ice machine, which is not a clean surface. Corrected. The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view.
On 8/21/2026, Lucky Strike, located at 3190 Shillington Rd., Sinking Spring, PA 19608, was inspected and found with the following violation: 3 cases of dough were observed stored directly on the floor in the walk-in freezer. Corrected. Interior of the ice machine in kitchen was observed with black organic matter.
On 8/21/2026, 7-Eleven Store #45781, located at 8 E. Weis St., Topton, PA 19562, was inspected and found with the following violation: Four quarts of TruMoo chocolate milk were observed for sale in the reach in cooler with a sell by date of 8/20/2026. Corrected and removed.
On 8/25/2026, Berkshire Country Club – Pool Bar, located at 1637 Bernville Rd., Reading, PA 19601, was inspected and found with the following violation: Hood filters observed with grease accumulation.
On 8/26/2026, Winnie’s Tea Bar, located at 402 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611, was inspected and found with the following violation: Observed some dirt/debris on the bottom shelf in the back storage area. The area will be cleaned later today. Paper towel dispensers empty at the handwash sinks in the back area and the restroom. Corrected.
On 8/26/2026, West Brew Izakaya Ramen & Bar, located at 424 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611, was inspected and found with the following violation: One of the small scoops behind the bar is stored in a container with standing water. Corrected. The drain line for the handwash sink behind the bar is not connected to the sink. Corrected. Door to the outside located in the back area of the food facility is being propped open without any screening. Corrected.
