Like many school events and functions, the annual Governor Mifflin High School Advanced Placement Art Show was cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
For students who take AP Art, this was especially devastating because part of the reward and tradition of being an AP Art student and working at elevated standards is having your own display panel at the community show.
In place of a traditional art show, Governor Mifflin Advanced Placement Art students created a “drive by” art show on campus to display their work.
High School AP Art Teacher, Chris Allen, worked with local small businesses, Signs & More in Shillington, to create large 4×6-foot banners to hang outside of the Governor Mifflin Stadium.
Each AP Art student worked with Mrs. Allen via Google Meet to virtually design the display banners. There are 9 banners displaying the work of 8 seniors and one junior AP Art student.
The banners were displayed during commencement, and will continue to be in place in the follow weeks. Eventually, students would like to find a home for the banners within local businesses or other public locations in our community.
