Fightin Phils promote Angel Martinez to Food and Beverage/Operations Manager

The Reading Fightin Phils have announced that Angel Martinez has joined the R-Phils full-time staff as the Food and Beverage/Operations Manager in preparations for the 2023 season. In his role, Martinez will help oversee the R-Phils concessions, stadium operations and much more.

As the majority of Reading’s full-time staff does, Martinez has familiarity with the role and the organization. Martinez is entering his fourth season with Reading after being hired as an intern for the 2019 season.

“It feels good to have the opportunity to work for the R-Phils full time,” Martinez said. “This is what I pictured the end of my internship experience looking like after being here for four years. I’m really excited to go through preseason preparations and getting FirstEnergy Stadium ready for the 2023 season. I’m really excited for the season to start.”

Martinez, 23, graduated from Mount St. Mary’s in December with a degree in Sports Management. Prior to college, Martinez, a Reading native, attended Wilson High school.

During the season, Martinez’ role will consist of getting the stadium ready on gamedays. That consists of making sure the concessions, bars and more are fully stocked for fans, in addition to ensuring the point-of-sale systems are working. He will also contribute to the operations department in helping fix and maintain America’s Classic Ballpark on a daily basis. On the food and beverage side, Martinez will assist in managing all of the food & beverage game staff employees.
