Reading man arrested on gun and drug charges after months long investigation

Pennsylvania State Police, Troop L Reading, announced Friday they arrested a Reading man on felony gun and drug charges following a months long investigation.

The investigation began in June of 2022 when the PSP Reading Vice Unit started an investigation into heroin and fentanyl sales from, 33-year-old Leonel Lugo-Santiago, from his residence on the 300 Block of North 6th Street.

At approximately 11:00 am Friday, April 21, 2023, members from PSP Reading Vice Unit, along with officers from the Reading Police Vice Unit, and the Berks County Drug Task Force, executed a knock and announce search warrant at this location Lugo-Santiago’s residence.

During the search of the residence, investigators say they found and seized the following:
 
623 glassine baggies containing both heroin and fentanyl – ($3,115 Street Value), 138 “trash can” plastic containers containing crack cocaine – ($1,380 Street Value), 336 bags containing both cocaine and crack cocaine – ($3,360 Street Value), 9 mm Pistol – reported stolen out of Reading City, and $6,300 Cash.

Lugo-Santiago was arrested for felony gun and drug Charges.
