The Berks County District Attorney’s office has charged a Shillington man with multiple counts of possession of child pornography following an investigation that began in July.
According to investigators, the Berks County Detective’s Office received a complaint from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (N.C.M.E.C.) in July of 2023, involving a Child Pornography file sharing incident utilizing the internet/web application ‘Bing/Bing Image’.
Berks County Detectives learned that an individual utilizing a ‘Bing/Bing Image’ account uploaded child pornography on June 24, 2023. Detectives were then able to determine that the I.P. address utilized to upload this child pornography was from a Comcast Cable Communications account. The subscriber of this account was later identified as Mark Fishkin of Shillington.
On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, members of the Berks County Detectives executed a search warrant at the Defendant’s residence. A laptop computer and desk top computer were seized during this search. The District Attorney’s office says Fishkin admitted to investigators that he had utilized both computers to view child pornography.
As a result of a forensic analysis conducted on the defendant’s computers by the Berks County District Attorney’s Forensic Services Unit, numerous digital files of child pornography were recovered from these two two devices.
On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the Defendant was charged with ten counts of Sexual Abuse of Children relating to his possession of Child Pornography.
On Thursday, October 12, 2023, the Defendant surrendered to members of the Berks County Detectives. The Defendant was taken to the Central Processing Center located at the Berks County Courthouse. He will be fingerprinted and photographed.
The defendant is expected to be arraigned later this morning.
A Criminal Complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
