Plans for a Community Vaccination Site Underway in Berks County

Under the direction of the County Commissioners, the County COVID Leadership Team has been preparing for a community vaccination site in Berks County.

County officials say the site location will be named as soon as possible in an area that is convenient, accessible to public transportation, and has sufficient parking.

To accomplish this, County officials have been actively working with the PA Department of Health and other health care partners so we can better meet the vaccination needs of Berks residents.

The Commissioners are also actively working with community partners to establish a Vaccination Call Center. The call center would assist residents that may not have direct access to a computer or may be ill at ease using technology and prefer to communicate by phone. The Center will be a major assist in supporting the County’s elderly population.

The volume of vaccinations will be dependent on supply from the state. Counties are not able to access vaccinations directly, however, County leadership believes that with the site ready and the County’s partnership with health care provider(s) in place, the state would be in a position to more readily allocate doses here.

As details emerge, the County looks forward to sharing information about the vaccination site and call center.
