Berks Parks & YMCA partner to present Family Fun Day on April 29

Berks County Parks & Recreation and the YMCA are partnering to present Berks Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Berks County Heritage Center. The Heritage Center opens for the 2023 season the same day, so the site will be buzzing with activity and fun.

The day will start with a 5K run at 9 a.m., Kid’s Color Run at 11:30 a.m. and Pig Roast with sandwiches available for $5 after the races. A wide variety of vendors and activities will be available throughout the day.

YMCA Group Fitness will be leading workout classes for kids, and the Penn State Master Gardeners will have a Seed Bomb Make & Take activity at the herb garden.

The Heritage Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with tours of the Gruber Wagon Works every hour. Tickets are available at the Visitor Center. The C. Howard Hiester Canal Center will also be open for free self-tours, but donations are requested.

Epler’s Schoolhouse will be hosting old-fashioned games for free, and you can build and fly your own kite in the field near the Red Bridge.
