The Berks County Fair will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a free, family-friendly event led by its Junior Fair Board on Friday, July 10.
The “Celebrating America’s 250th” event will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Leesport. Organizers say the patriotic celebration was conceived and organized by members of the Junior Fair Board to honor the nation’s semiquincentennial while offering activities for visitors of all ages.
“The Junior Fair Board wanted to create an event that celebrates our country’s history while bringing the community together,” said Karen Mohn, Junior Fair Board leader. “Their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to service are on full display through this celebration.”
The event will feature several interactive activities, including a tribute inviting veterans to sign a commemorative American flag with their name and branch of service, patriotic face painting, animal photo opportunities with Junior Fair Board members and their animals, a community handprint American flag art project, and patriotic chalk art for children and families.
According to the fair, the event reflects the Junior Fair Board’s mission of providing young leaders with opportunities to develop leadership skills, serve the community, and promote agriculture and the Berks County Fair.
Fair officials are encouraging families, community members and veterans to attend the celebration and recognize the work of the Junior Fair Board as it commemorates America’s 250th anniversary while highlighting the next generation of community leaders.
