The Reading Parking Authority is launching a temporary Amnesty Program to help motorists settle unpaid parking tickets while reducing financial penalties. The program, set to run from March 3 through May 30, 2025, offers significant savings to those who take advantage of the opportunity.
During the amnesty period, individuals who pay their outstanding fines in full will receive a 25% reduction on the original ticket amount, and all associated penalties will be waived. For those unable to pay in full upfront, the RPA is offering a payment plan option. By making a 50% down payment, individuals can enroll in a monthly plan, with penalties removed from their balance.
The program has the potential to provide substantial financial relief. For example, a motorist with $500 in original fines and an additional $500 in penalties—totaling $1,000—could reduce their balance to just $375 under the amnesty terms. This would result in an overall savings of $625, or 62.5% of the total owed.
Motorists can participate by visiting the RPA office at 430 S. 4th Street in Reading. A drive-thru service is also available at the rear of the building. To register, individuals must present a valid photo ID and provide their vehicle’s license plate number. The RPA office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and is closed on weekends.
Those unsure about their outstanding ticket status can check online at tocite.net/readingpa/portal/ticket or call the RPA at (610) 655-6166 during business hours.
The RPA encourages all eligible motorists to take advantage of the amnesty period to resolve outstanding parking tickets and avoid potential vehicle immobilization or towing.
