The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has adopted a resolution introduced by state Rep. Manuel Guzman, D-Berks, designating July 2026 as Culinary Arts Month in Pennsylvania.
House Resolution 345, adopted June 10, recognizes the role of culinary education, professional training programs and the state’s food and hospitality industries. The resolution highlights career and technical education programs and postsecondary institutions that prepare students for careers in food service, hospitality and culinary innovation.
According to the resolution, Pennsylvania’s restaurants, wineries and food producers contribute to local economies while attracting visitors from across the region.
The Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association has voiced support for the measure, emphasizing the importance of developing the state’s hospitality workforce.
“Pennsylvania’s culinary and hospitality industries play a vital role in our economy, our communities and the experiences that define our Commonwealth,” said Joe Massaro, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association. “Culinary Arts Month is an opportunity to celebrate the talented chefs, culinarians, educators, and hospitality professionals who create memorable dining experiences every day while inspiring the next generation of industry leaders. Through programs like Pennsylvania ProStart, students gain hands-on experience, industry mentorship, and a deeper understanding of the many rewarding career opportunities available in hospitality. We applaud Representative Guzman for recognizing the importance of culinary arts and the individuals who help shape the future of Pennsylvania’s hospitality workforce.”
Guzman said the resolution recognizes the contributions of culinary professionals throughout the commonwealth.
“House Resolution 345 celebrates the skill, creativity and dedication of culinary professionals across Pennsylvania,” Guzman said. “From students in training programs to experienced chefs and business owners, these individuals help drive local economies while enriching our culture and strengthening our communities. I encourage residents to support local restaurants and explore culinary arts programs as a pathway into the workforce.”
Throughout July, schools, educational institutions, professional associations and local businesses are encouraged to host activities highlighting culinary education and promoting career opportunities in the field.
