The Berks County Public Library System announced the selection of Stephanie Williams as the new System Administrator on Thursday. Berks County Commissioners confirmed the appointment at Thursday’s commissioner’s meeting with Williams stepping into the role Friday, August 25.
Williams represents a familiar face within the library system having served as the Deputy Administrator/Outreach Services Coordinator over the past two years.
Prior to joining the library system department in 2021, Williams worked as a director at two Berks County libraries and as the district library consultant in both Lebanon and Berks Counties.
She brings 13 years of library administration experience to her position as system administrator and will begin a three- year term as director-at-large on the Pennsylvania Library Association’s (PaLA) Board of Directors in 2024.
“I am honored and excited to serve Berks County in this new role,” Williams said. “I believe in providing excellent and equitable library service in Berks County, and I look forward to working more closely with our department’s staff and our member libraries to accomplish this.”
The Library System aids in strengthening the Berks County community by providing centralized support for the 19 full-service, member libraries and four branches. Williams will oversee countywide library strategies, policies, and funding by implementing a comprehensive annual budget and making recommendations for allocation of State and County funds to member libraries.
