White House advisor Tom Perez visits Reading highlighting ARPA projects

Tom Perez, Senior Advisor to President Biden, and Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, visited the City of Reading Tuesday afternoon.

The visit aimed to highlight the positive impacts of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, including The American Rescue Plan Act.

“To have someone from the Biden administration tour the City of Reading so that they could see firsthand how we have been utilizing federal funding is an immense opportunity for us to showcase the growth that is happening in the City of Reading” said Mayor Eddie Moran.

“I was very privileged that they chose Reading as one of the stops to see where the American Rescue Plan funding is being utilized. The fact that they chose this place definitely shows that we’re definitely on the rise.”

The tour of Reading included Reading Area Community College, Canal Street Skate Park, Oakbrook Community Center and FirstEnergy Stadium.

“What I’ve seen throughout the day here is the Mayor, Governor, local leaders, everybody has been really strategic about taking the federal dollars that came from the American Rescue Plan and other funding streams and really putting it to work to help people” said Perez.

“What I saw today was opportunity and partnership in action across the city and it’s building an even better Reading. I think the future is really bright here and President Biden is most proud of is these investments change lives.”
