Annual Radiothon for Pediatric Cancer Research set for Thursday

Despite having to cancel every fundraising event this year due to the pandemic, Laney’s Legacy of Hope is determined to continue to providing grants to local families fighting pediatric cancer.

On Thursday, September 24-25, 6am-7pm, Y102 radio hosts Andi & Kenny will join Laney’s Fighter Families for the 3rd annual Laney’s Legacy of Hope Radiothon.

In 2019, Y102 and Laney’s Legacy of Hope were able to raise $60,395 in two days.

2020 has proven to be a difficult for the local nonprofit, who relies on local fundraisers to generate revenue to serve their mission. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Laney’s Legacy of Hope was forced to cancelled every 2020 fundraiser, and hasn’t raised a single fundraising dollar to date.

This has been heartbreaking for the organizations volunteer leaders, as they have been working tirelessly over the years to make the foundation stand out as something exceptional.

Even with this bump in the road, so far this year, Laney’s Legacy of Hope has still been able to provide 16 grant checks to families with children battling cancer.

In addition to the Radiothon, Laney’s Legacy of Hope is also hosting an online raffle this year to help raise additional funds. The raffle is open now and will be available through September 25th: https://laneyslegacyofhope.rallyup.com/y102laney

So far, Laney’s Legacy of Hope has provided 71 grant checks to families and $200,000 to CHOP for research projects for pediatric cancer since inception in 2014.
