Bridge Repair brings Closed Lanes, Detours on Route 562

Drivers on Route 562 in Exeter Township will see delays over the next few months as construction crews work to repair the bridge over Owatin Creek.

Detours will be put in place on Route 562/Boyertown Road West from Loder Road and Ritters to Walnut Road beginning January 25 to May 28, 2021.

Westbound traffic will be detoured on Limekiln Road, Weavertown/Daniel Boone Road, US 422 and Business Route 422/Perkiomen Avenue. Eastbound PA 562 will remain open.

Work on the 562 bridge over Owatin Creek includes deck repairs, substructure repairs, bearing repairs, joint repairs/joint sealing, scour countermeasures and stream channel repairs.

The concrete T-beam bridge is 27 feet long, 38.5 feet wide and was built in 1926 and reconstructed in 1964. This section of 562 has an average daily traffic volume of 5,212 vehicles.

Road-Con, Inc. of West Chester, PA is the general contractor rehabilitating the PA 562 bridge as part of a $3,782,460 contract to rehabilitate 14 state bridges in Berks County.
