West Reading police investigate juveniles on bikes allegedly demanding money, making threats on Penn Ave

The West Reading Police Department is investigating after receiving calls Tuesday, August 8th, regarding juveniles on bicycles on Penn Ave. asking people for money, then displaying or making threats about guns.

The department says officers spent a significant time searching the area for the juveniles but could not locate them as they had already fled the area.

According to a media release, West Reading Police Department Criminal Investigations Division detectives have been actively working with law enforcement partners on the case. Friday, at approximately 12:30pm, investigators located one of the juveniles involved and took them into custody.

The juvenile has been charged with Robbery and related offenses. Due to the serious nature of these charges, police say the juvenile was placed in a juvenile detention facility.

The Criminal Investigation Division detectives say they are diligently working to identify and locate the other involved juveniles.
